Moss: Book II to be released July 21 on Meta Quest 2

The wait is over for the millions of Meta Quest 2 owners eager to explore the magical world of Moss: Book IIthe award-winning sequel to the fan-favorite virtual reality game, Moss. Announced during today’s UploadVR Summer Showcase, Moss: Book II will be released on Quest 2 on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Greeted by rave reviews upon its release on PlayStation VR earlier this year, Moss: Book II is already considered a must-have VR title. Players can add Moss: Book II to their wish list on the Quest Store now. And for those who want to play Moss before the release of Moss: Book II, Moss is now 25% off for a limited time.
« For this release, we didn’t want to just have Book II running on Quest 2 without looking any further, so we took our time to balance all aspects of the game as best we could, from the graphics to the gameplay, and to create a truly memorable experience, » said Tyler Walters, technical artist at Polyarc. « During the process, we were consistently excited by the level of fidelity we were able to achieve on Quest 2, often finding ways to improve the look and feel of the game like never before. »
In addition to the dynamic look and gameplay of Moss: Book II, players will find a deep sense of immersion and physical connection to the game world by manipulating the Quest 2’s dual controllers. Playing with both hands provides more spontaneity, allowing players to express themselves more freely as they seek to manipulate the environment, interact with their favorite heroine Quill, or activate the weapon inventory during combat. In addition to the Quest 2 announcement, Polyarc also revealed that it has opened presales for the Moss: Book II soundtrack, composed by two-time BAFTA winner Jason Graves. The composer returns to set the music for Quill’s new adventures and enhance the player experience with his heartfelt and elegant melodies. The soundtrack features solo performances by Jason Graves on piano, acoustic guitars and Celtic harp, as well as contributions from Kristin Naigus (Irish whistles, flute, oboe, English horn), Reinoud For (cello) and Tom Strahl (bouzouki, oud).
« The first Moss holds a special place in my heart and Moss: Book II is a very personal composition, » confides Jason Graves. « While adding new instruments to the orchestra, I gathered a small group of soloists to emphasize Quill’s heroism and sorrow, and even acquired a beautiful ‘baby grand piano’ that operates as the heart and soul of the score, giving structure to the themes and then adding the other instruments to give them body. I hope this soundtrack sends players back into Moss ‘ magical world with every listen. »
The soundtrack features 17 tracks from the game for over 140 minutes of music. The first three tracks – « When One Door Shuts, » « The Starthing’s Way, » and « The Winter Glass » – can be heard on Bandcamp right now. For collectors and fans of physical versions, limited editions of the album in CD and vinyl format can be purchased at Materia Collective and Bandcamp.
