Every puppet whose strings are pulled by the Entity is doomed to a single course. Separated by centuries and bound by tragedy, a cursed slayer and survivor enter the Trials, each deformed and transformed by their own inner darkness into something unexpected. Now available through the public test version on Steam, and officially released on November 28, Dead by Daylight: Doomed Course brings the Mistress of Muggles and Taurie Cain into the Fog.
The killer’s best friend
Doomed Course’s slayer, the Mistress of Muggles, also known as Portia Maye, embodies one of the most singular and tragic characters to enter the Dead by Daylight universe. Curious and gentle as a child, Portia was forced to watch her father brutally tortured and killed by pirates in the 19th century, and her spirit was broken. Consumed by her hatred, she grew up alone on the mysterious island of Dragon’s Tooth in the Bermuda Triangle, devoting her life to inflicting the worst torments on those responsible. The last remaining link to her humanity is her bond with her massive dog Snug, a gift from her father who helps her hunt.
As the first AI-controlled animal companion in Dead by Daylight, Snug will help Portia hunt down, stalk and grapple fleeing survivors so that she can deliver the coup de grâce.
Players will be able to give 2 distinct commands to their canine companion: Hunt and Seek. The Hunt command sends Snug forward, with the option of redirecting it for better control. If Snug catches a survivor, he’ll drag him towards the Mistress of the Molosses and the horrible fate that awaits him. The Seek command also creates a Muggle Flair radius that expands as Snug moves, sniffing out and revealing any survivor within range.
Disciple turned sacrifice
Only the tiniest fraction of Dead by Daylight’s survivors can be considered morally questionable, and among these few, no one skirts the line as dangerously as Taurie Cain. Born and raised in the Black Greenhouse sect, a clandestine cult dedicated to the understanding and veneration of the Entity, Taurie lost her mother and brother while exploring a Bleed, an overlap between our world and the Entity’s realm.
She returned from the Bleed, her heart touched by darkness, more convinced than ever that her destiny was to serve the Entity. Yet when the Fog finally came to take her, she discovered that she would serve not as a killer, but as a survivor.
Mixed blood
Despite the centuries and circumstances that separate them, the stories of the Muggle Mistress and Taurie share a common motif, which weaves itself into the fabric of many Dead by Daylight stories: exposure to Bleeding.
Considered to be the overlap between the Entity’s realm and our world, the Bleedings allow those who dare to venture into the Entity’s deadly confines. While some may escape alive and unscathed, exposure to the Entity in any way is not without dark consequences. Before finding herself in the Trials, survivor Haddie Kaur had investigated Bleedings around the world for her “Herald of Hell” podcast series, and Bleedings have also been identified in many notorious Dead by Daylight locations such as Crotus Prenn Asylum.
As for the Muggle Mistress and Taurie, their exposure to the Bleeds turned their lives upside down, driving one into a murderous frenzy and the other to devote her life to the Entity. This would ultimately lead to an eternity of suffering. Such is the course, cursed though it may be.
Dead by Daylight: Doomed Course is currently available as part of the public test version on Steam. The official release date is November 26.
