Screamer returns as a futuristic, narrative-driven racing game, developed in collaboration with Polygon Pictures and featuring the iconic voice of Troy Baker.
At The Game Awards 2024, Milestone, one of the world’s most important and historic racing game developers, revealed a trailer to announce the return of Screamer, the 1995 title that pushed the boundaries of racing gaming. It redefined the genre and brought the excitement of virtual racing from arcades to gamers’ homes.
True to the innovative spirit of the original, Milestone has reimagined its most iconic license, drawing on over 30 years of racing expertise. The result: an all-new racing experience incorporating combat mechanics, destined to make a lasting mark on the genre, just as the game did in the 90s.
This new Screamer perfectly combines high-intensity arcade action with revolutionary gameplay mechanics and a deep story enriched by interconnected narrative arcs. Inspired by the anime and manga of the 80s and 90s, the narrative and visual framework are at the heart of the experience. The game benefits from contributions from exceptional partners, including animated cinematics produced in collaboration with Polygon Pictures, one of Japan’s oldest and most respected animation studios, as well as the participation of Troy Baker, famous American actor and iconic voice in the video game industry.
Blending themes such as human will, vengeance, love and greed with classic sci-fi elements, Screamer plunges players into a clash between personal desires and external forces seeking to control them. The adventure revolves around a diverse cast of characters taking part in a clandestine racing tournament organized by a mysterious figure.
Scheduled for release in 2026, Screamer will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
