Bandai Namco Europe today announced that TEKKEN 8, the latest installment in the critically acclaimed TEKKEN series released on January 26, 2024, has exceeded 1 million units sold worldwide on its first day of release and 2 million units in its first month. The follow-up to TEKKEN 8 will continue through various content updates, esports events, music and license announcements.
TEKKEN’s next esport stage, the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR 2024, will kick off on April 13, 2024. Following the success of the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR events that accompanied the TEKKEN 7 lifecycle, players will now compete on TEKKEN 8 at TEKKEN WORLD TOUR 2024 events around the world to earn points and move up the rankings in the hope of reaching the finals and becoming the best TEKKEN 8 player in the world.
Among the regular updates to the game, the TEKKEN Shop will make its debut. This in-game store will offer customization items such as costumes from previous episodes, character skins for avatars and licensed items from our collaborations, enabling players to add their own touch to their favorite TEKKEN characters.
With over 2 million copies sold in the first month of release, sales have far outstripped its predecessor TEKKEN 7, which is still playable and holds the series’ highest sales record, with over 11.8 million copies sold worldwide.
