Number of kilometers traveled by Pokémon GO players in Europe

Over the course of 2023, thousands of players scoured their cities around the world and continued to capture relentlessly. To celebrate the loyalty of European trainers, Niantic has worked to gather walk data from each country into a podium to determine who are the biggest walkers in Europe.

Are the French the biggest walkers?

French walkers in 2023 covered a total of 101.8M kilometers throughout France. Among the cities with the most walkers, Paris topped the podium with 32.2M kilometers, followed by Versailles with 12.6M kilometers and then Lille with 5.3M. Lyon and Bordeaux close the gap with 4.8M and 2.9M respectively.

We can see that pokémon hunting is still very popular in France, but what about in Europe? And more specifically, how does France rank in Europe?

In the ranking of European cities, we can see that Londoners are way out in front, with 43.9M kilometers walked, boosted in particular by the Pokémon GO Fest London held in August 2023.

In second place is Paris, with 32.2M kilometers. Parisians are indeed the second biggest Pokémon GO players in Europe!

Behind them are our German neighbors, with 23.7M, and our Spanish friends, with 17.6M kilometers logged.

These statistics highlight the popularity and commitment of the Pokémon GO community, even several years after its release. Niantic is proud to see such a close-knit community around its game, and is happy to encourage people to interact with the outside world.

The company is already looking forward to seeing the next figures for 2024.
