The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro is nothing new if you look at its name alone. Back in 2023, Razer released the : Razer BlackShark V2 Pro… Except that this is an update of the headset in question with PS5 functions. Where the other 2024 edition is adapted to the XBOX.

A helmet to dominate them all!

Let’s face it, in the jungle of PC and console headphones, there’s a lot to get lost in. And Razer doesn’t help matters either, targeting PC gamers. But here’s the thing. Razer also likes to make its headphones console-compatible. And to put an end to the overall confusion, Razer is releasing a White Edition stamped PS5 on its packaging to make it clear that its headset works on PS5. As was the 2023 edition.

Note, however, that the headset is compatible with the PS5. But also with PC, Smartphone, Tablet and Nintendo Switch. In other words, an ultra-versatile headset. Well, we haven’t tested the headset on Xbox, but who knows… If we do, we’ll update this review.

Premium finish.

The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro White Edition is made largely of super-strong plastic. On the headband, there’s a semi-rigid plastic center covered with leather on top and memory foam on the underside.

On the underside, there are two reinforced metal bars for adjusting the headset to your head. And, of course, two plastic earpieces of excellent quality and finish. Finally, there are two not-too-thick shape-memory cushions that hug the ear superbly and make the whole thing super-comfortable.

And what can we say about the overall black-and-white design, very reminiscent of the PS5? All this for just 320 grams, making it easy to forget. But for fans of light. There’s no chroma here, just sobriety!

Multiple connection without Jack…

We’ve seen it everywhere and your feedback has been heard on our side. Yes, there’s no Jack plug in the headset’s connectivity. However, the left earpiece has an ON/OFF button, volume control, mute button, USB-C and microphone jack. On the other earpiece, there’s only a bluetooth button for switching between the dongle and a bluetooth peripheral.

Also included in the box is a USB-C for recharging the headset. Yes, that’s all USB is for. Razer is used to long cables. Except here, the cable is ridiculously short and impractical for in-game recharging. And finally, there’s the dongle that adapts to whatever you’re going to connect it to, serving as the Hyperspeed connector.

This dongle is super-practical and makes everything very easy to use. Just plug the dongle into a console or similar. Switch on the headset and… That’s it, it’s connected! A must-have!

Unlimited comfort.

In terms of comfort, the pads are super-soft and lightweight, so you forget about the headset very quickly. So much so, that after many hours of gaming, there’s no sensation of heat on our side or earache as some people have experienced.

The microphone is one of the best we’ve tested on a headset. The sound is clear and of high quality. It looks huge in its foam, but it’s right in front of your mouth. We were surprised by the quality of sound this one delivers. It was a welcome change from the last headphones we tested.

On the sound side, there are two 50mm Triforce titanium speakers, already used in other high-end headphones. So yes, you’ll have the must-have for your PC or console gaming sessions.

The downside is that you won’t be able to use Synapse to configure the headset. But Razer Audio on a smartphone. So sure, the application is complete and you can use it anywhere. But on a PC, we’d have liked it to recognize the headset and offer us more advanced configuration options.

Finally, you can’t do without the battery. And it’s fair to say that we were quite surprised to see that we could easily last 48 hours with the dongle, and almost a day longer in classic Bluetooth mode. Yes, we’ve got very good autonomy, and yes, other brands do better. But we’re talking about more than two days of constant use, which is enormous.

So, as you can see, this is the best console headset from Razer, almost overshadowing the Kaira Pro Hyperspeed. It’s up to you to decide whether you’re looking for a more classic headset or one more suited to competition. Because yes, this is a helmet made for Esports. We’re totally behind it!
