Hello Space Marines! We’ve finally got our hands on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the long-awaited sequel to 2011’s cult shooter. So, does it rock as hard as we’d hoped? Hang on, it’s going to be bloody!
Intergalactic butchery with a vengeance!
From the very first minutes, you’re in for a real treat: hordes of Tyranids as far as the eye can see, explosions, war cries… The Warhammer 40,000 atmosphere is perfectly transcribed, and you really feel like a Space Marine defending the Imperium.
The gameplay is edgy and brutal, just the way we like it. You alternate between bolter shots, chainsword blows and bloody executions. The sensations are excellent, and it’s a real pleasure to dismember Tyranids by the hundreds.
More beautiful, bigger, stronger!
Technically, the game is a slap in the face. Graphics are detailed, animations are fluid and special effects are impressive. The environments are varied and well-designed, and you’ll enjoy exploring the various battlefields.
The game features a fairly lengthy single-player campaign, with a story that holds up well. We meet up with Titus, the hero of the first game, who must confront a new Tyranid threat. The script is well written and full of references to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, which will delight fans.
A few weak points, but nothing serious
Well, the game isn’t perfect either. There’s a lack of variety in enemy types, and some passages can feel a little repetitive. But frankly, when you’re out there slashing Tyranids with a chainsaw, you’ll soon forget about these minor shortcomings.
In conclusion, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is an excellent shooter that will delight both fans of the license and fans of gritty action games. If you love the Warhammer 40,000 universe and want to slaughter aliens like crazy, go for it!
