Sony introduces Torchlight, a revolutionary new visualization space that draws on the most modern proprietary technologies from Sony’s companies, combined withEpic Games’ Unreal Engine – the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D tool. Torchlight allows filmmakers to create digital scenes before shooting, in a concrete virtual environment based on theUnreal Engine and virtual cameras, with the Virtual Production Tool Set: this automatically merges virtual environments and on-set shooting using Sony VENICE digital cameras. In addition, creators will be able to access a range of Sony proprietary technologies, including the ” mocopi ” mobile motion capture system. These and other technologies integrated into the Torchlight workflow enable creators to unleash their imagination in real time.

The future of content production – virtual production
To expand creators’ possibilities, Sony supports the growth of virtual production, a new form of content creation, from technological development to production solutions. In this field, Sony combines the advances of its shooting, detection and display technologies, and relies on real-time rendering using video game engines. Pixomondo, Sony PCL and SPE provide fully integrated creative services and shooting infrastructures worldwide, to cover the entire process – from pre-production to post-production, including on-set shooting using virtual production tools.

PlayStation 5 products and games:
Sony Interactive Entertainment presents the latest range of PlayStation products 5, and its innovative models such as the new PS5 console in a lighter, more compact version, remote gaming with PlayStation Portal, Pulse Explore wireless headphones, the Access Controller, and the future Pulse Elite wireless headset. The Deep Earth collection, featuring 3 new front panel colors for the PS5, and DualSense wireless controllers will also be on display. At the stand, visitors will be able to experience Gran Turismo 7 on both PS5 and PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) in immersive racing installations, as well as preview the brand-new No Return mode of the PS5 game The Last of Us Part II Remastered from Californian studio Naughty Dog, due for launch on January 19.
New fan engagement features based on technology and entertainment
Sony promotes initiatives to engage sports fans. In association with Manchester City soccer club, Sony is currently testing a demonstrator to deliver new services and create a connected global community. A beta service will be open to fans later this year. Private tests have already begun, and fans have been intrigued and excited by the project. At the stand, visitors can now view new content in the virtual Etihad Stadium and engage in experiences to share their passion for the club and its players.
Sony’s sports activities showcase a variety of initiatives with major sports players from around the world, bringing together the eye tracking of Hawk-Eye Innovations, the data visualization technology of Beyond Sports and the audience engagement expertise of Pulselive to create an unprecedented fan experience, reaching diverse audiences including the younger generations.
Next-generation immersive music experiences
For artists, Sony Music is developing new ways of strengthening their bond with fans on online gaming platforms and other entertainment environments, using game-engine creations and virtual production technologies. Visitors to the stand can test three next-generation immersive music experience applications. The exhibition will show how Sony’s virtual production capabilities and Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) were used to create the music video for artist Iniko’s track “Jericho”, produced by Columbia Records, as well as Journey Through Jericho, an associated Fortnite island based on the video. Visitors to the booth will also be able to discover Nitewave, a new music-centric Fortnite island built with UEFN. What’s more, they’ll be able to play AVNU: Where Music Meets, a music destination for Roblox centered on a music-related game, complete challenges and collect virtual goods containing music from Sony Music artists, including Paul Russell of Arista Records.
Sony Pictures Virtual Reality
Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) is exhibiting its latest multi-platform, multiplayer game, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, an extension of the hugely popular Ghostbusters universe. The exhibition will include eye tracking and control via the PlayStation VR2 headset, the latest-generation virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5, as well as adaptive triggers on the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller. SPVR expands the use of SPE’s exclusive licenses by producing and distributing virtual reality games and experiences worldwide, across all consumption channels (including home entertainment or based on geographic location), to deliver immersive entertainment.
Immersive storytelling: creating tangible experiences that bring exclusive licenses into the real world through location-based entertainment
Demonstrating sensing and interactivity technologies for location-based entertainment:
To offer creators new avenues of expression and extend the value of intellectual property licenses, Sony is promoting demonstrators of immersive experiences based on its sensing and interactivity technologies, via a group-wide collaboration. In this demonstration, visitors can experience the immersive world of Ghostbusters using Sony’s exclusive haptic technologies, landmark-free motion capture, and the “mocopi” mobile motion capture system.
In addition, SPE is working on location-based entertainment worldwide, including at Columbia Pictures Thailand’s Aquaverse, named one of the world’s best new theme parks by CNN. This show features video of these initiatives, including the first home-operated creative entertainment destination, Wonderverse, opening in the Chicago area in January.

Detection technology to improve safety on the move:
The “Safety Cocoon” is a “safe zone” concept that improves vehicle safety through 360-degree detection in various driving situations, enabling drivers to act quickly to avoid risks. At the stand, visitors will be able to discover the various Sony detection technologies that have gone into making this concept a reality. By striving for resolution and sensitivity that transcend the human eye, Sony’s sensing technology aims to improve safety by serving as the eye of mobility and helping to deliver new mobility experiences.
