The developers at Bytten Studio and their publisher Raw Fury are pleased to announce Cassette Beasts is available today on Xbox, Xbox Game Pass & Nintendo Switch. The open-world creature-collecting RPG with turn-based combat has been praised by critics and PC gamers alike.
Cassette Beasts is aimed at fans of RPGs with monsters to collect, offering them the possibility of merging their creatures! Indeed, on the island of New Wirral, people use cassettes to transform themselves into strange creatures and fight. It’s up to you to explore the island and record the monsters you meet on your trusty cassettes, acquiring their abilities and finding a way home. You’ll be able to combine two creatures to create powerful new forms, thanks to Cassette Beasts’ unique fusion system Cassette Beasts to create unique creatures with thousands of possibilities.
B-side features :

  • Transform yourself into various monsters… with the help of cassettes? Constantly threatened by extremely aggressive monsters, the inhabitants of Port-la-Ville have decided to fight fire with fire. Record a wide variety of different monsters on your audio cassettes, then play them back during the battle to take their form!
  • Merge monster shapes! Two monster shapes can be combined to create a new, fully animated form. There are thousands of combinations and combos to discover.
  • Explore a rich open world! Some monster abilities can be used in human form, allowing you to move around, solve puzzles and much more. Glide, fly, swim, climb or become magnetic in this colorful 80s-inspired universe, complete with electronic soundtrack.
  • Immerse yourself in a captivating adventure: Who are the archangels? Why have you ended up here? Cassette Beasts offers an otherworldly adventure full of twists and turns.
  • Learn to master a rich combat system!
    Take advantage of the alchemy existing between the various elements to apply beneficial or harmful effects in addition to your attacks, or to modify your opponent’s elemental type.
  • Travel with a wide variety of human companions! Don’t fight alone! Bond with your teammates and help them achieve their personal goals, and you’ll become a better team. It’s the strength of the bond between you and your companion that determines the effectiveness of your fusion.
  • Play co-op on the couch with your friends! Team up with a friend in local multiplayer mode to explore the world, transform and fight together.
  • An innovative genre through modding (on PC): the game team invites the community to get involved by contributing to Cassette Beasts!

Cassette Beasts has been available since last month on Steam, the Microsoft store and PC Game Pass. From today, it will also be available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass.

Bytten Studio is an independent team based in Brighton, UK, co-founded by Jay Baylis and Tom Coxon. They have over two decades of combined experience working on successful independent pixel art games such as Stardew Valley, Starbound and Wargroove. Their first game as a studio, Lenna’s Inception, was a procedurally generated action-adventure RPG with a branching narrative and two art styles.
