Final Fantasy XVI demo now available, featuring the game’s prologue and a special combat sequence

SQUARE ENIX® has made available a free demo of FINAL FANTASY® XVI, the next standalone title in the best-selling franchise, ahead of its highly anticipated June 22 release on PlayStation®5 (PS5™). The demo was unveiled during the FINAL FANTASY XVI pre-launch event, held yesterday in Los Angeles. Several hundred fans and guests were invited to celebrate the upcoming release through various panels, live announcements and other activities.

FINAL FANTASY XVI producer Naoki Yoshida also announced that the game’s demo would give access to the game’s prologue, for fans wishing to start the adventure with a head start; and that save data from the demo will be transferable to the full version of the game on release. The demo allows players to embody Clive Rosfield at the start of his epic journey. Players will discover his ambitions and goals, as he falls victim to a tragedy that will lead him down the dark and perilous path of revenge. Once the prologue is complete, players will be able to access a second special sequence within the demo, dedicated to combat. This will enable them to take part in intense battles with a wide range of unlocked skills, enabling them to master a wide range of devastating attacks and combos.

In addition, a new trailer entitled « ASCENSION » was released at the event. This trailer offers a new insight into what awaits players in this action-packed RPG.

SQUARE ENIX also unveiled a short film entitled Requiem, the result of a collaboration with creative agency Anomaly. Over the course of three and a half minutes, this live-action film directed by Diego Contreras and set to a striking soundtrack by the game’s composer, Masayoshi Soken, brings the game’s immersive story to life.
