Trailer covers all the basics of becoming the best boss in the afterlife

What’s in this trailer?

Unveiled last Friday at the Media Indie Exchange (MIX) during the Direct Showcase, this trailer shows newcomers what they need to know about Have a Nice Death before they begin their exploration of this delightfully macabre roguelike on March 22.

What are the eight things to remember about Have a Nice Death?

  1. First of all… Have a Nice Death is a 2D action roguelike in which you play as Death, CEO and founder of Death, Incorporated, a thriving multinational company specializing in processing souls in the afterlife.
  2. Your role as CEO is to traverse all departments of Death, Incorporated… armed with your scythe to set recalcitrant employees straight, so you can go on vacation to avoid burnout!
  3. The departments are unique, not only because they all have their own theme, but also because they are procedurally generated. Each floor will bring its own surprises, making your game exciting and keeping you on your toes… like a good cup of kafe.
  4. Death has more than one trick up his sleeve. With 70 weapons and spells at your disposal, you’ll certainly have the perfect tool to teach your Scourges manners.
  5. There’s good in death. After each attempt, you’ll receive a Performance Review that will earn you ingots to unlock unique weapons, items, and upgrades that will help you progress more easily.
  6. There is more than one difficulty level. In addition to the default difficulty mode, Impending Crisis, the game offers a beginner’s mode, Personal Growth, as well as 15 higher difficulty levels to become the ultimate CEO.
  7. Being the boss has its perks. Running Death, Incorporated is no picnic, but luckily you have a plethora of useful features:
    1. Curses are permanent passive bonuses or buffs you can apply to yourself… but some come with a malus.
    2. Before starting a game, you can accept contracts that offer you challenges. Each completed contract will unlock instant bonuses, such as a new weapon or spell for your run.
    3. During runs, you can get items and weapons from the store and upgrade them in the tech room. And when you return to your office, you can even install new decorations by talking to Muriel from the Reverence.
  8. Finally , iron your cape, sharpen your scythe, have fun and Have a Nice Death!
