review – Forspoken

Forspoken, a game that has been talked about a lot due to its ambition and its postponements. And yes, since the Athia Project in 2020 to Forspoken, there has been a long way to go for a title that was supposed to draw all the potential of the PS5 and in bonus a PC release. For this, we find the Luminous Studios, yes the studio behind Final Fantasy XV. So it’s only natural that we find for the title an improvement of the Luminous Engine.

A story from another time.

Already seen and seen again, the title is largely inspired by Alice in Wonderland to the point of quoting it at the beginning of the game. Basically, we find Frey, an orphan who tries to escape her current life to make a new start and thus escape her past and its problems with the law.

One night, she finds herself attracted by an abandoned bracelet that takes her to another world, Athia. A world ravaged by mist and various enemies attacking everything that moves. Soon, the story will lead you to Cipal, the last existing city. A place that will serve as your central hub.

She will also quickly realize that her bracelet speaks to her and offers her powers. The bracelet she will name Krav throughout the adventure, making fun of him continuously. Krav coming from Poukrav… Afterwards, the bracelet will also answer her and continuous verbal jousts will follow.

It may or may not work, but Frey is a New Yorker. Basically, she doesn’t have her tongue in her pocket and that fits the character who, as the adventure progresses, will see herself changing little by little and becoming softer. It is as much to say that we really discover the character of Frey as we progress in the game. Without spoiling you, you realize that the road back home will be long and lacks a striking epic side. Which is a tragedy because the title had so much to offer.

Athias, your ruthless universe.

Six years after Finale Fantasy XV, the Luminous Engine has evolved. And if the Windows Edition of the last title was magnificent, Forspoken offers itself a magnificent rendering, but which will require on the PC side a massive configuration. Because your different magics and visual rendering are small slap so much everything makes well.

The feat will come especially that Frey will spend his time either attacking or dodging with a lot of aerial dodging or attacks at full speed. We really take pleasure during the fights as everything is beautiful and fluid.

The mountain, it wins you over.

As said above, the title is vast and large. So quickly, you will unlock skills of course. At first, run fast. Quickly, climb higher. And at some point and by habit of exploiting the cracks in the walls, climb everywhere you want. It’s really fun to go through the world of Athia to make every point of interest.

Finally, we find a complete and engaging title. We have everything to have a must have. You’ll just have to get past the first few hours of play when Frey is annoying as hell. But for the rest, we find ourselves on a title which is pleasant to play with the controller and which on a good screen gives a nice slap. We want more so much that we hope for a sequel to the title as there are still things to tell.
