Square Enix unveils a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI: Salvation

At the PlayStation®5 Showcase, Square Enix Ltd. unveiled the launch trailer for FINAL FANTASY®XVI, its new action-RPG. The latest installment in the FINAL FANTASY saga, it will be released worldwide on June 22, 2023 exclusively on PlayStation®5 (PS5™).

Entitled « SALVATION, » this trailer lifts the veil on what awaits players next month when they venture into the world of Valisthea. The trailer reveals the plight of the Purveyors, those born with the ability to cast spells as they wish, and the truth behind the Mother Crystals, whose benefits are meant to protect humanity. The trailer also offers a glimpse into the first steps of Clive Rosfield, the game’s protagonist, as he and his allies fight to regain control of their destiny.

FINAL FANTASY XVI takes players into a brand new story set in the epic, twilight fantasy world of Valisthea. The peace of this world, bathed in the light of the Mother Crystals, is threatened by the spread of the Black Scourge, which threatens to put an end to their hegemony. The fate of the world is at the mercy of the Primordials, powerful creatures, and the Emissaries, men and women with the ability to summon them and channel their powers. This is the story of Clive Rosfield, a warrior bearing the title « Guardian of Rosalia » who has sworn to protect his younger brother, Joshua, the Emissary of Phoenix, the Primordial of fire. Alas, tragedy strikes Clive, causing him to vow revenge on Ifrit, a dark Primordial who brings misfortune upon himself.
