Fireplace Games unveils En Garde! a spectacular cloak-and-dagger action game

En Garde! is an action-adventure game that gives players the chance to embody Adalia de Volador, a legendary swordswoman, in a fantasy vision of the 17th century. Players can embark on daring adventures full of charm and humor, defying the cruel Count-Duke and standing up to tyranny with panache!

With its beautifully painted backgrounds, theatrical characters and an impressive amount of dialogue and banter, En Garde! is one of the few original game projects to capture the flamboyant comedy and adventure of a bygone era.

Combat in the game is demanding and constantly evolving, pushing players to use cunning, acrobatics and the many objects in the environment to defeat hordes of scoundrels, guards and malevolent nobles. The game features a series of thrilling episodes in which players can unlock zany modifiers and new combat situations in arena mode as they battle waves of diverse enemies.

Players can fill their Panache gauge and unlock special skills by fighting in style and exchanging attacks, parries and ripostes with their opponents. The game also encourages players to adapt and improvise, learning their enemies’ weaknesses and using the environment to their advantage by surprising, stunning or evading enemies.

Initially an award-winning student project, En Garde! is supported by Kowloon Nights, the independent game fund behind Sifu, Tchia, Scorn and Roller Drome. TheEn Garde! team has since expanded, enabling the studio to increase the depth and scope of the game.
