Moon Rover Games: the new studio created by EA and Ubisoft veterans

Moon Rover Gamesa new development studio founded by a team of EA and Ubisoft veterans, announced its launch today. The studio will focus on creating immersive cooperative games in emerging worlds where players can experience and share their own unexpected moments and stories.

The founding team of Moon Rover Games includes creative director Jamie Keen, CEO Julien Wera, technical director Ben Keen, and Christofer Emgård as narrative director, with experience in leadership roles on franchises such as Far Cry, Battlefield, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Mirror’s Edge, Crusader Kings, and many others.

The studio is currently working on an ambitious cooperative action game set in an original IP. Their goal is to use all the knowledge the team has gained from working on system titles like Battlefield and Far Cry to create a world where players can experience surprising and new gameplay moments.

Technical Director Ben Keen emphasizes the possibilities offered by today’s technology, especially for new studios and small teams: « The power of today’s commercial game engines and development tools allows us to greatly accelerate prototyping and development, allowing us to get a good experience in a short period of time, and then create ambitious games without the need for a team of a hundred people. Moon Rover ‘s approach to technology is to focus first and foremost on creating great game experiences, which is why we use Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, but we also develop our own technology only when it has the most impact on the game. »
