Persona, this mythical saga which was initially a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei has managed to stand out to the point of not depending on the main series and has even managed to find its own public. And when we talk about a spin-off of a spin-off, it’s because the series works better than expected. That’s why Sega decided to update Persona 4 Arena. And at the controls we find the masters of the genre Arc System Works that we know for Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Dragon Ball Fighter Z… So much to say that this version is just Ultimax…

A title that dates back to the Playstation 3

Persona 4 Ultimax includes all the content of the PS3 and 360 version. This includes among others characters, history, music … But that’s not all, the title also has the right to new translations like French. This has become the basis since Persona 5 Royal. As for its version, we are now on the 2.5. Which is the version currently used on the Arcade version. This update allowed to have the Shadow versions of the characters, but modifies the balancing and the interface. Basically, we have a title much more pleasant and more readable than at its launch. The downside will come that if we have a better visual quality, the sprites, it, have not been corrected and denotes greatly from the set. BUT, the title offers something that everyone will love. A new version of the Netcode Rollback. Which at the time of our tests is a bit in the cabbage, but should get better and better? To be seen in the future, but we won’t lie to you, we have spent very little time on the multiplayer.

The gameplay?

If you have never played Persona 4 Arena, the principle is simple. You have to knock out your opponent. To do this, you will have two keys for the physical moves of your character. And two other keys allowing the use of your Persona. Each character has its own attack and Persona. And we will not complain with the twenty characters of the title. We regret that this version does not add characters from Persona 5. Finally, this version of Persona 4 Arena is the ultimate update of the title. We can only hope that the studio will release a sequel soon with new characters, story, content… Because a fighting game without Joker is unthinkable for the series.
