The 2024 edition of Samsung’s The Frame has been awarded ‘Pantone Validated ArtfulColor’ certification. Pantone[1] is the world’s leading authority on color standards. This certification recognizes The Frame’s advanced color management technology. Exceptional color reproduction meets Pantone’s strict standards for color authenticity, virtually indistinguishable to the human eye in natural light.
“Consumers have high expectations of The Frame,” says Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung. “We strive to meet these expectations by presenting art realistically. Receiving Pantone Validated ArtfulColor certification shows that we have succeeded in this endeavor.”
‘Pantone Validated ArtfulColor’ assesses the ability of displays to accurately reproduce a range of Pantone Color cards and Pantone SkinTone cards in lighting conditions similar to average afternoon light in Western and Northern Europe. The Frame is the first screen in the industry to pass this rigorous validation. Samsung displays are highly regarded for their color fidelity, as evidenced by the Pantone Validated certification awarded to all 2022 QLED TVs[2].
“We evaluated The Frame under standard ambient lighting conditions and are impressed by the high quality of Pantone color reproduction,” says Iain Pike, Senior Global Director of Product and Licensing at Pantone. “This is the first TV in the world to achieve Pantone Validated ArtfulColor status. Our technical team can also visually confirm that the colors and skin tones are very realistic.”
The Frame’s Art mode adjusts brightness and hues to display artworks and photos with authentic colors in standard lighting conditions, such as at home or in art galleries. Thanks to Samsung’s advanced QLED technology, The Frame has already achieved Pantone Validated and SkinTone Validated certification for accurate reproduction of the entire Pantone skin color spectrum and all 2,390 Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors. What’s more, The Frame features a glare-reducing matte screen that brings to life the extensive collection of around 2,300 works of art available from the Samsung Art Store.
