Warner Bros. Games today announced a brand-new live-action trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the next installment in the kult license developed by renowned NeatherRealm Studios, to be released on Sept. 19. Entitled “It’s in our blood”, the new video, directed by Tom Kuntz with the participation of Matthew Libatique, Academy Award winner for A Star Is Born, pays tribute to the 1993 “Mortal Monday” kulte commercial that marked the history of the series

Like the commercial that aired 30 years ago, this trailer features actor and producer Dave Bautista encouraging people from all walks of life to prepare for kombat. Bautista follows in the footsteps of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1, who must also unite the champions of the kingdoms to defend and protect a reinvented Mortal Kombat universe

“I remember the Mortal Monday commercial very well, especially the iconic scream,” Bautista reveals. “That’s when I became the Mortal Kombat fan you see today, 30 years later. I’m very happy and extremely honored to be able to be part of the game’s history.”

“The Mortal Monday commercial really launched us on a great adventure in video game creation,” tells us Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios and co-creator of Mortal Kombat. “It’s incredible to be able to pay tribute to one of the most defining moments in Mortal Kombat history on the eve of the launch of Mortal Kombat 1.”
